AI for owners who do their own marketing

  • Wellington-Waterloo Community Futures 294 East Mill Street Elora, ON, N0B 1S0 Canada (map)

Somebody in your town asked a chatbot this week for the best florist, bookkeeper or bike shop nearby. It gave them three names and a sentence about each. You were not in the room, you got no vote, and you will never see the conversation.

That is the part worth your attention. Not that AI is coming for your job. That your business is already being described to customers by something you have never once checked.

Most AI sessions are a tour of tools you never open again. This is not that. In this session, we fix the description a machine gives of your business, build you one prompt that already knows your business so the next use takes thirty seconds, and turn one thing that happened in your shop last week into a week of posts. You leave with work finished, not notes to action later.

The delusion in the title is the belief that this is for companies with a marketing department. It is the reverse. If you are the owner, the buyer, the window dresser and the person writing the Facebook post at 10pm, you are the one it helps most, because it hands you the department you never had.

What we cover

  1. How customers actually find you now, and where AI gets its description of you

  2. Fixing that description: your Google Business Profile and one page of your own words, rewritten in the room

  3. Building one prompt worth keeping, loaded with your street, your customers, your prices and the objection you hear every week

  4. One thing becomes five: a single photo, question or complaint turned into a week of content and one email

  5. Where AI will make you sound like every other business in the country, and why that is the one thing a local business cannot afford

  6. Ten minutes on your questions, with your own business on the screen

What you walk away with

  1. An accurate description of your business where machines read it, rather than whatever was written in 2019 and never touched.

  2. One reusable prompt saved on your phone, already carrying your own business facts, so next time takes thirty seconds instead of ten minutes.

  3. Five pieces of content drafted from one real thing that happened in your business last week, and the method to do it again on a Tuesday night on your own.

Who it is for. Owners of shops, studios, restaurants, clinics and trades, online and professional services. Nothing to install, no technical knowledge assumed. If you tried a chatbot once and never went back, you are exactly who this is built for.

Bring a laptop or your phone and one real thing about your business you wish more people knew.

As VP and Director of International Operations at Godiva Chocolatier she ran a $300M brand across more than 400 points of distribution and launched Canada from zero to $10M. She was Managing Director for North America at Dove Spa with Unilever Ventures, and she opened the Canadian market for Wilkinson Sword. As fractional COO of Sunnyside Grill she built the franchise system from a blank page and has run it since 2013.

Today she is Founder and CEO of NorthFuse Group and runs a portfolio of thirteen brands with a small team, which is the honest reason she uses these tools every day. She holds an Ivey MBA, has been named Entrepreneur of the Year, judges the Elite Franchise 100, and is the author of Nothing You Survive Is Wasted.

She is not a technologist. She is an operator who needed the work to get done.
